General FAQs How do I place an online order?
Ordering online offers fast and secure access to a virtual warehouse of AHIMA
resources. To place an order, follow these easy steps:
- Browse through the product offerings either by topic (Coding, Compliance,
HIPAA, etc.) or by type (subscriptions, audio seminars, books,
or On Demand products). If you prefer,
you can also search by product number, keyword, title, or author by using
the Search utility from the navigation bar
at the side of the page.
- When you find a product that you wish to purchase, click the Add to Shopping
Cart icon under that product.
- When you add a product to your shopping cart, our system will prompt you to login.
- If you are a member, enter your AHIMA ID number as your user name and
your password used to access all AHIMA secure areas (Communities of Practice,
Member Profile, etc.)
- If you are a non-member and have previously purchased a product or registered
with us and have an AHIMA ID number, enter your AHIMA ID number and the
password you have previously created.
- If you are a nonmember and have never purchased from AHIMA or have an
AHIMA ID number, click on the Create New Login button and create
a profile. You will be asked to create a password and an AHIMA ID number
will be assigned to you.
- Once you have logged in, you will see your shopping cart. You can change
the quantity of products you wish to order, continue shopping, or check out.
- Once you have selected all the products you wish to purchase, you can either
click the Checkout Now button at the top of all product pages to get
to your shopping cart, or if you are in your shopping cart, click on the red
Checkout Now button.
- The system will allow you to specify your shipping address and
provide payment information. You will be able to review you order before submitting
it. When you submit your order, please click the Submit Order Now page only
once. Otherwise, you may be charged multiple times if you click on this button
repeatedly. Please note, it may take up to 30 seconds to process your order.
- Once your order has been processed, a confirmation page will appear with
your order number, and an e-mail order confirmation will also be sent to the
e-mail address you provided.

How do I find the products I want?
The online AHIMA Catalog has several features to make it easier to find the products
you need. One way is to browse the product offerings by topic (for example,
Coding, HIPAA, etc.) or by type (books, subscriptions,
audio seminars, or On Demand products).
You can also search by product number, keyword, title, or author by using either the Search utility from the navigation bar on the side of the page.
For the new AHIMA on Demand store,
additional search features will help you find the correct documents for reprints, online documents, and customized textbooks. See below for more details.
How do I change my order?
If you haven't submitted your order yet, you can go to your shopping cart,
and change the quantity number, then click the Update Quantity button.
To remove an item in your shopping cart, simply change the quantity to "0"
and click the Update Quantity button.
If you have already submitted your order, you cannot change it online. To make
changes or cancel, call (800) 335-5535, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Central time. You can also e-mail changes to info@ahima.org.
Be sure to have your order identification number handy.
What if I want to return an item?
AHIMA guarantees your satisfaction. If you are not completely satisfied with
your purchase for any reason, you may return eligible, undamaged products for
full credit minus shipping and handling.
Some restrictions apply; refer to Returns. AHIMA on Demand products are not eligible for return or refund. Audio Seminar CDs and prerecorded Webcasts are nonrefundable.
Is it safe to use my credit card online?
Yes, you can be sure that your online transaction is private and secure. AHIMA
employs Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), an advanced encryption technology to protect
your personal and credit card data. For maximum protection, AHIMA recommends
that you use a browser with 128-bit encryption. Both Netscape and Microsoft
provide free downloads of 128-bit encryption versions of their browsers at their
Web sites.

How can I receive a catalog through the mail?
To receive a copy of The AHIMA Print Catalog in the mail, click here and complete the necessary information. Please note, we do not have a print catalog for the documents available through our AHIMA on Demand section.

Reprints on Demand Quantity Discounts
For Members
AHIMA members earn special discount prices on AHIMA on Demand products. To qualify for a member discount price, customers must include their AHIMA membership numbers on their order forms.
For Bookstores
Bookstores are entitled to a 20 percent discount off the regular price on AHIMA publications. The discount does not pertain to co-published books, or other publisher’s titles.
Can I order books, audio seminars, and On Demand products at the same time?
Yes, all books, audio seminars, reprints, and online documents go into the same shopping cart for added convenience. Since customized textbooks (available through Textbooks on Demand) require that you work directly with the Publications Department, a separate form must be submitted via the online site or by fax or mail.

What is AHIMA on Demand?
AHIMA on Demand is a new area of AHIMA's online store that allows you to order reprints, online (electronic) documents, or customized textbooks. See below for details on each.
What is the difference between Reprints, Online, and Textbooks on Demand?
With Textbooks on Demand, educators can create customized textbooks and CD-ROMS for use in college classrooms, distance learning programs, and in-service employee training programs. You'll be able to choose materials from AHIMA's books, journals, and other print resources that are appropriate for your students and the way you organize your courses. You can also add your own original content--course handouts, exercises, or quizzes, for example—as well as public domain materials to supplement AHIMA resources. For a list of the AHIMA resources that can be included in your customized textbook, go to the Textbooks on Demand site. Once you've decided what to include in your book, an AHIMA project editor will put together an exact price quote for your order. Your choice of binding options and quantity will determine the exact cost for each book.
Reprints on Demand provide multiple printed copies of book chapters, Journal of AHIMA articles, practice briefs, and other AHIMA materials for distribution to students in college- and graduate-level programs or professionals in healthcare organizations. Your reprints* will be individually shrink-wrapped so that they can be easily separated for sale in college bookstores or distribution to clients. Standard shipping and handling charges apply to reprint orders.
*Minimum order =25 reprints
Online on Demand products are single-user electronic copies of book chapters, Journal of AHIMA articles, practice briefs, and other AHIMA content. Original, cutting-edge content that will not be available anywhere else will also be published through Online on Demand! Materials are made available to you through time-limited access to an AHIMA database. You will be sent an e-mail link after you order the product, and the link will allow you to download and print out a limited number of copies (in PDF format) of the materials you order.
How do I place an order?
For Online on Demand orders, simply add the appropriate products to your shopping cart and follow the same instructions as with regular orders. Phone orders are not accepted.
Reprints can be ordered online through this web site or via mail and fax with a valid purchase order. Phone orders are not accepted.
For Textbooks on Demand, you can create a Textbook Quote Request on this site and have it e-mailed to AHIMA's Publications Department, or you can print out a copy of the form for faxing or mailing.
What if I want to return an On Demand product?
AHIMA on Demand products are not returnable. Reprints and customized textbooks returned to AHIMA for refund will be destroyed and cannot be returned to the customer. Products damaged during manufacturing or handling will be replaced by AHIMA at no extra charge to the customer. Refunds will not be issued under any circumstances.
How do I change an On Demand order?
If you have not completed your purchase online, you can change the quantity and click the Update Quantity button. To remove an item in your shopping cart, simply change the quantity to "0" and click the Update Quantity button.
Note that the minimum order for reprints is 25 copies and only one copy of each Online on Demand document can be included in an order.
If you have already submitted your order, you cannot change it online. Online on Demand orders cannot be changed once the order has been completed.

AHIMA on Demand Orders
To ensure the timely delivery of AHIMA on Demand products, fill in all applicable fields on the order forms provided. Always include the name and title of the person placing the order. Orders from individuals must be prepaid. Orders from educational institutions and commercial organizations can be billed, but a valid purchase order must be provided.
All orders for On Demand products must be confirmed in writing on the online store or via mail or fax. Because On Demand products are not returnable, telephone orders cannot be accepted.
All orders from outside the United States must be prepaid in US funds.
